CBC Partners with Vermont Huskies: Mass Huskies VT Expansion

We are excited to share a major update and a new chapter for basketball in our region.

Beginning January 2026, CBC will partner with the Mass Huskies Basketball Program to provide more opportunities for local and regional athletes. This partnership is designed to strengthen the basketball pathway for players in our area—from development and skill-building to higher-level competition and exposure opportunities.

Below are the details on what’s new, what’s staying the same, and what families can expect moving forward.

Mass Huskies Expands to Vermont

Mass Huskies is a long-running and well-established basketball program throughout the state of Massachusetts. Huskies provides a full menu of opportunities—from developmental teams to select and regional teams, as well as national teams that have participated in the EYCL, EYBL, and E40 circuits. Their brand is nationally recognized and has helped hundreds of players secure opportunities to play beyond high school.

Under the direction of Vermont Region Director Kabray Rockwood, Huskies will now expand into Vermont, helping make these opportunities more available to players across VT, NH, and NY. This expansion includes both girls and boys programs, with the goal of building competitive teams and providing a clear pathway for committed athletes.

CBC Partners with Vermont Huskies

CBC has been an established program for over 20 years, providing local and regional developmental basketball opportunities in the Connecticut River Valley and beyond. CBC’s model of high-level instruction and tournament play is a proven one, and the experience families have come to expect will remain consistent.

What has been missing is a stronger bridge for athletes who are committed to taking the next step—through higher levels of competition, exposure events, and a more advanced pathway. CBC has not had the infrastructure or capacity to expand into that space on its own.

By partnering with Huskies, we can combine:

  • A strong regional developmental program (CBC)
    with

  • A strong exposure and high-competition program (Vermont Huskies)

This partnership creates a continuum of opportunities for athletes to grow into—based on their goals, development, and level of commitment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is CBC going away?
No. CBC will remain active and continue operating as its own brand. CBC will continue focusing on developmental basketball, training, and tournament play similar to years past.

Is CBC now Vermont Huskies?
No. CBC and Vermont Huskies are separate programs. They will co-exist and work together to support athletes and families.

What is the difference between CBC and Vermont Huskies?
CBC will continue to focus on:

  • Skill development

  • Fundamentals

  • Game understanding

  • Competitive tournament play in a development-focused environment

Vermont Huskies will focus on:

  • Higher-level competition

  • Selective team formation

  • Exposure opportunities for elite-level players

  • Participation in more competitive tournaments, including national exposure events during live recruiting periods

The Vermont Huskies program will be more selective, and roster spots will require a higher level of commitment from athletes and families.

Will anything change with CBC?
Most changes will be behind the scenes (operations, infrastructure, and long-term growth planning). The player and family experience should remain familiar and consistent with prior CBC seasons.

Will there be Huskies teams for both girls and boys?
Yes. The Vermont Huskies expansion includes both girls and boys programs. Team offerings will depend on player interest, age groups, and overall commitment levels.

What tournaments will CBC attend, and what tournaments will Vermont Huskies attend?
We are currently finalizing the season structure and tournament plans for both programs. Once schedules are confirmed, we will share full details.

If my athlete is interested in both CBC and Vermont Huskies, do they need to attend both tryouts?
No. Our goal is to consolidate the CBC and Vermont Huskies tryout process so athletes can be evaluated in one setting and then placed in the program that best fits their goals, readiness, and level of commitment.

Athletes interested in Vermont Huskies are strongly encouraged to attend the January 25th tryout (girls only), as this will be our primary evaluation date and will help us make initial placement decisions. Other dates may be added if needed. Boys tryout dates are still to be determined and will be shared once finalized.

We appreciate your support, your patience, and your trust as we work through the details of this partnership over the coming months. We truly believe this will create a stronger basketball future for athletes and families across our region.
